Couldn't have gotten through without you!

Not big on writing reviews, still in school, don't have time for it but I wanted to spread the word. Right up until finals a majority of students in my class were failing OB. Not me. This book was my lifeline. The way the questions are worded prepared me for how the tests were going to be and by studying the rationales as well, I was able to critically think through the questions I wasn't sure of. No lie, I wouldn't have made it through without this book and the peds one as well.
I am currently in my mental health quarter and have the Davis book for that as well. Once again, I am passing thanks to the Q&A format of these books. When I graduate, I'll find this Davis person and Kiss him on the lips!!
One key advice, don't just ask and answer, really study the rationales because they are the key to the tests.

This was a great book to help me review for exams in my OB class for nursing school

Some of the questions in this book were almost identical to the questions on my OB exams in nursing school. It was very helpful to practice the questions in this book the night before exams to make sure I knew the material. I have found all of the "Success" books helpful so far in nursing school.

I have bought many books about progressions and quite frankly was tired of all the flufh that really told me nothing or reading 150 pages before I got a phrase of insight. NOT THIS BOOK!!
In this book you get served a healthy dose of REALISM that seems long forgotten in todays astrology. Thank God for Sophia Mason and her book because look under the moon and all important aspects it makes and there you have it. If you need to look at outer planet aspects, there you have it too. Right to the point and if you are tired of hearing about what your soul is doing in the afterlife when I need to know more if tomorrow I will be unemployed, then this is the book your looking for.

Definitely a 5 Star. Very thorough, covering many types of aspects, and the delineations are very direct and get right to the point, unlike more modern astrology books which are infested with psychobabble.

In depth book about progressed charts!

Well written by the late Sophia Mason. My only problem with this book is that she repeatedly makes the comment about attracting the "opposite sex". There are plenty of people who have no desire to attract the opposite sex and so that is very annoying and a very out of date phrase.

It is a very complicated book, and you may need to read a sentence or two over again in order to keep up with her thought process. Its amazingly complex and through! If you want through and in depth, this is it! Not at all light reading. This is a serious book for people who really want serious, in depth answers and aren't satisfied with superficial descriptions, rather who want to delve into the complexities and the interwoven fabric of astrology. Another superb book is "Predictive Astrology", it does not deal exclusively with progressed charts, as this book does.

Valuable Reference

This book is a valuable reference for slope stability. The second edition is an improvement from the first edition, but dosen't make the first obsolete. Some great information, including example problems, on probabilistic analysis has been added and there is a little more on 3D and finite element analysis. Probably not enough changes from the first edition to make you need this one, unless you have some specific questions about one of the new chapters (see the table of contents). Numerous references are provided to allow further research of a particular topic.
This book together with Landslides : Investigation and Mitigation (Special Report (National Research Council (U.S.). Transportation Research Board), 247) make up a great reference set for slope stability.

I've been using this book as a resource for a graduate course in slope stability and a project involve stabilization methods and have found it an incredibly useful tool. It has some good information and helpful hits. I would recommend it for anyone doing Geotechnical Engineering.

A well written history of Labour in power in Victoria under two Premiers. The first-person account takes the reader inside the ALP during a highly successful period, especially during the Bracks era. Deane shares some valuable insights into the dynamics of politics, both state and Federal.
However, the book has some glaring omissions:
- there is no mention of the public controversies involving of some Ministers such as Peter Batchelor, Andre Heremeyer and Tim Holding. These were significant issues at the time.
- there is little analysis of the loss of the 2010 election.
Still a worthwhile read for students of political history.

Nice Book with self tests

A very nice book for teenagers facing problems with Bullies and bad behaviors.It has self tests inside, the language beign used is simple and can be easily understood.Some might find it extremely helpfull on tecnhiques for facing anger issues, fear, anxiety and deppression from bulling or bad behavior of others.In general i consider it a valuable tool for my Job as a counsellor.

Probably a great book in the UK. Useless in US.

I had to return this book-- something I almost never do. Usually I just pass them on. But this book is written for a pre-teen or young teen who lives in the UK. It is full of terms and slang that would be a mystery to a US child. It also recommends an action (hitting back if hit in school) that could get you suspended in the US, but is apparently considered acceptable in the UK. Don't buy for a US child!

Simple Christmas Songs

This is an excellent beginner Christmas book that I use with my beginning piano students. It has a combination of no-line music and lined music. A couple songs are written for black keys and some are written for white keys. This book allows even my youngest students to play Christmas music!

After training with Graham for the past year for my basketball team I saw great improvement in my basketball game and my mental strength. Before I started reading the book I was a player that was not getting much playing time on my team. But when Graham came in and started teaching us, I quickly improved and I got into the starting lineup on a nationally recognized team. Graham's book is something that I try to read everyday and it helps me get into the right mindset for the day. Also the book applies to all forms of your life not just basketball.

About the Author
Malka Marom began her career as a folksinger, in the popular duo Malka & Joso, who were the first to bring world music to Canada. As a soloist, Marom has performed on stage, TV, and radio around the world. She is also known and respected as a radio broadcaster and documentary maker and is the author of the bestselling novel Sulha. Marom lives in Toronto, Ontario.

Many wonderful things have already been said about this book, so I won't be repetitive. The one word that makes me crazy that I see and hear used again and again, even in reviews here, to describe Joni's attitude toward herself and her work, is "arrogant." An artist, a master of many mediums, and of her stature is rarely found in any age, and yet Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen are repeatedly described as "poets"; Joni is never, to my knowledge, put in their class. Her work is always qualified by her gender. This is grossly unfair, and in interviews one can tell how much this irritates her. And it should! She tells of being "short-sheeted" at New York venues by envious male performers such as Dylan...her guitar destroyed prior to a performance because the boys were pissed that she played better than they, and she was only a girl. I laud Joni for taking her praise into her own hands, and for saying she really had no peer...neither Cohen or Dylan had the vocal chops that she did, or painted with words as skillfully as she did, or used such complex harmonies, or made so many gutsy changes in her creative direction. I think many almost-greats copied her and resented her at the same time: she refused to be held down or put in a corner or pigeonhole. How frustrating that must have been! My deal is, those whose work goes beyond praise need to be glorified, regardless of gender. Joni continues to be short-sheeted, and she is irritated and goading into telling the truth, setting the record straight. Those who love her work, all of it, are stunned by her musical and poetical honesty...why would she make dishonest boasts? It seems to me ironic beyond words that she is painted with such a brush, and to think she is arrogant is to totally miss the point of the gender issues involved and her compulsion to right a true wrong, not one she perceives. Can we drop the word "arrogant" from the Joni Mitchell lexicon, once and for all? I think it's about time.

Wonderful!

I am not a professional reviewer. I am a huge Joni Mitchell fan. Anyone who loves her art and music will enjoy this "tapping of her mind". Here, Joni is the painting and Malka Marom is the frame. Malka Marom skillfully converses with Joni giving you a closeness that only a friend can share. It is revealing, touching, thoughtful and real. It was like spending a day with an old friend - picking up just where we left off. Loving Joni's work is truly like making a friend for life - this book only deepens the relationship. I highly recommend it!

I agree with all the positive comments/perspectives folks have already made, esp. by reviewer Voracious Reader, who reflects my perspective perfectly..

I love reading about exceptional people, how they think, create, personal histories, experiences, views, ect. And have been drawn to Joni's words, thoughts, staggering creativity, raw insight and clarity. So, this book is gold to me. Very very interesting. What an education, what a perfectly imperfect, brilliant, mind blowing human being! I was/am seriously struck & inspired by who she is as a person & artist. Fueled by desire to create. She has made life so much more richer for me/us.
This book is a keeper, I know I will read it again, and will refer back to it. Lovely photos & art.
