About the Author

Judith Turner’s passion for clothing alterations began in the 1990s when her friend gave her a job in her fabric shop.  She soon found that she had a natural gift at altering clothes and in 1996 she branched out and opened up her first shop with nothing except this skill.  It was soon after opening her shop that Judith began writing manuals on clothing alterations for the staff.  She wanted everyone to be altering the clothes in the same way, and also wanted to give her customers a 100% guarantee that the garment would be altered to their satisfaction.

The best book out there for alterations!

I looked for a book to help with alterations for over a year. This is by far the best book out there. I am so happy Judith took the time to write all of this treasure of information down.
This book is great for beginners and intermediates. I have been sewing for 20+ years and it has been a pleasure reading this book. I am truly excited by this book. She is brilliant in her approach to fixing ready to wear.

This book was out of stock for what seemed like forever. I am so happy it's finally in my library. I'm a home sewer and often find that thrifted or store bought clothing doesn't fit quite right. This book is exactly what I was looking for to start altering my clothes. There aren't a lot of them out there and this book is really great.

Japanese historian Louis Perez brings Mikiso Hane’s rich and beloved account of early Japanese history up-to-date in this thoroughly revised Second Edition of Premodern Japan. The text traces the key developments of Japanese history in the premodern period, such as the establishment of the imperial dynasty, early influences from China and Korea, the rise of the samurai class and the establishment of warrior government. It also examines the culture and society of the long Tokugawa period, the rise of Confucianism and Shinto nationalism, and finally, the end of Tokugawa rule. While the text provides many political developments through the early modern period, it also integrates the social, cultural, and intellectual aspects of Japanese history.
