This book is an awesome read from cover to cover!

This book is an awesome read from cover to cover! The author reveals that there is so much more possible than what we are told to believe. It is fascinating to read his experiences, and those of his clients’, to discover that regular, ordinary people do not have to die to visit the other side. This book has definitely opened my mind! I love that he also included a glimpse of his decade long childhood trauma. I am sure it helped other readers as it did for me. I would be interested to read more about his family dynamics and more detail of how he overcame it all, and if there is any left over residuals even with the forgiveness. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is one of those select few.

I run a metaphysical bookstore and am visited by many authors with books relating to the other side. There are only a select few that I read all the way through, and even fewer that I read immediately after receiving it. This is one of those select few. Geozuwa's story is both heart-breaking and transcendent. The depth of his connection to the other side is in a class by itself, and this is coming from someone who meets and knows such people as a part of my business. His experiences and communication will speak to the skeptic, the new believer, and the experienced metaphysician, one and all. I highly recommend this book.

The author takes us on a captivating journey exploring his history of metaphysical experiences, transcendence of childhood trauma and evolution as a guide and instructor to others who seek answers about "The Other Side." The book is as interesting as it is well written.

Yes, the man is opinionated, and one may argue with some of his more controversial and unsparing critiques. His analyses are grounded in a thorough understanding of music, and he does not retreat from criticizing the most popular. I think that the whole topic is perhaps more subjective than Wilder lets on, but at least he's forthright about his opinions, and provides hundreds of musical annotations to illustrate his views. I'll also agree with the reviewer who criticizes Wilder's view that post-50's popular music was written by "amateurs." Still, this is widely regarded as a must-have for the student of popular music, and it's an excellent, albeit somewhat technical critique of popular music's "golden age." Recommended!

FIVE STARS FOR PAPERBACK - KINDLE: um...

The Kindle Edition makes the book half as useful by failing to present sheet music excerpts clearly. They are the very subject of the book, and they cannot be read.

I have treasured this volume over all others on the subject, but I wanted it on Kindle so I wouldn't tear my third copy to pieces as I did the first two. I can't really use it in Kindle edition, although the lilt of Wilder's prose certainly seems to survive the transition.

ALEC WILDER himself a composer has written what is generally considered the bible of AMERICAN POPULAR MUSIC.More than thirty years have gone by since the first édition of this book and it remains fresh.Like many i am proud to say that this book was really for me what i needed to start digging into the history of many songs before the rock era.From BERLIN and KERN to the often forgotten greats like DONALDSON and McHUGH they are all there and mister WILDER knows what he is talking about;he had talked to many writers and composers who were at the time of the first édition still with us.Personal opinions are of course a matter of taste;we are for example not obliged to believe everything he says.Most of the time mister WILDER is right:EXAMPLE:he believes that RICHARD RODGERS was perhaps the most gifted composer of his time.Few can really disagree with that.In fact,there is only one major problem with this book,if you don't read music it won't be too enjoyable for you,because there are many examples with sheet music to proves the points he wants to make.Everyone who has an interest in the history of AMERICAN popular music should buy that book.

John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course

I Purchased Part 1 and Part 2 Piano Courses. I went through both books and found that the cartoon characters really kept children interested in developing fluency in reading music notes. The children could not wait to move forward to the next page and course book. By the time they finished Part 2 Course, the children were able to play a song. I wish these basic piano course books were available when I was a kid.

Great books!

I find this a good book for younger students who have completed book 1 of JT's Easiest Piano Course. If the student is a bit more advanced (after book 1) I will normally use JT Modern Piano Course 1. John Thompson's books are the only piano books I start students out with and I've been teaching for over 25 years. I supplement with others, including fake books. But I feel, after trying many other courses, his is the best.
